    doing great. Got back from the XMPP Summit yesterday, which was co-located with OSCON. Went awesomely well. We nailed down a best practice for doing federating social networks over XMPP PubSub, and also OAuth over XMPP.

    @ralphm: nice... when are we expected to start seeing things improving?

    when will be the day that we stop using HTTP and use XMPP where it works best?

    @melo: whenever a DEV wants?

    i would love to see services/sites/apps connecting via a single connection to each server, instead of a conn/per user/access

    My point is that you have all the tools you need to start working on this today.

    The details are much clear now than they where 6 months ago, and as Ralph said, the latest XMPP summit, with the XMPP PubSub <-> OAuth bridge, is a huge step forward.

    You still need servers to support it, but given that most pubsub deployments (IMHO) will use external XMPP components to implement partial PubSub specs, you should see those nodes appear really soon.

    This is one of the XMPP advances that does not require servers to be upgraded to start deploying.

    Third paragraph should start with "It will be easier when servers support this, but..."
